Dr. Lillian Nejad

Dr. Lillian Nejad is a clinical psychologist, author and founder of mental health platform, 'Skills for Life' and worry app, 'Contain Your Brain'. She has 25 years experience in a variety of settings including public mental health, universities, organisations and private practice empowering individuals and groups with accessible, practical, and scientifically-backed skills and strategies that help improve their mental health and well-being at home and at work.


In addition to her two books, she has recorded three albums of mindfulness and relaxation exercises and hosts the podcast, 'Life Skills for Leaders'.


Lillian is also an Australian Open superfan, sports photographer wannabe & a passionate supporter of the arts.


Mental Health Key statistics (Source: ABS)

  • Over two in five Australians aged 16-85 years (43.7% or 8.6 million people) had experienced a mental disorder at some time in their life

  • One in five (21.4% or 4.2 million people) had a 12-month mental disorder

  • Anxiety was the most common group of 12-month mental disorders (16.8% or 3.3 million people)

  • Almost two in five people (39.6%) aged 16-24 years had a 12-month mental disorder

In 2022, mental health topped the leading concerns of local SME owners and operators, with 31% ranking it as their highest immediate concern – up on 26% in both 2021 and 2020. Over the last 12 months, Australian SME operators have reported higher levels of stress, especially when compared to the start of the pandemic.
